What is The Broughton Immersion?
Broughton Sanctuary, featured in National Geographic's "Cool List", spans 2,500 acres on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Held by the same family for over 900 years, it is now undergoing a remarkable transformation as nature returns to the land. At its heart sits Avalon, a state-of-the-art wellbeing centre surrounded by ancient and newly planted woodland, rolling meadows, lakes, wetlands and thriving habitats. For four days, this extraordinary landscape is yours to explore while staying in beautiful accommodation across the Sanctuary—from the historic grandeur of Broughton Hall to the warmth and charm of the Retreat Houses.
Throughout the four days, a flexible timetable allows you to choose your own rhythm. Enjoy woodland dining beneath the trees, sing around the fire with new friends, rest and unwind in the Avalon Pool Suite, forage with a guide, pause beneath ancient trees, dance in the Fire Temple, swim in wild water, walk the labyrinth, volunteer on our nature recovery project, or simply be, with a book or sketchbook overlooking the rewilding landscape.
Hosted by Roger and Paris Tempest, stewards of Broughton Sanctuary, alongside Brandt Miller, Alexander Beiner, Sevanti Martinez, Gemma Tetley and River Six, the four days weave together movement, pilgrimage, creativity, nature connection, performance and embodied practice.
What to expect
Thursday | Arrival
Step through the Door of Transformation and leave the everyday behind. The immersion begins with an opening circle before gathering for an evening of hot cacao, music, storytelling and fireside connection. Inspired by English folklore and the spirit of the Yorkshire Dales, the Fire Temple Gathering sets the tone for the days ahead.

Friday | Awakening the Senses
Rise early for a silent disco dance in the woods at dawn, then gather beneath the trees in song. The afternoon is yours to shape: explore wild swimming and a woodland sauna, create nature mandalas, walk the labyrinth, or rest and unwind in the Avalon Pool Suite. As night falls, come together for alfresco Cosmic Dining and a crystal bowl sound bath with Paris Tempest.

Saturday | Play and Imagination
Move your body and explore the art of pilgrimage with our guest speaker, Brandt Miller. Join artist Eddie Foster for drawing in nature, discover traditional nature crafts, or work alongside the land team with your hands in the soil. The afternoon offers time for forest bathing and relaxation in the Avalon Pool Suite.
After dark, Broughton Hall transforms. Hidden rooms, mystery games, theatre, magic, fortune telling and unexpected encounters await. Fancy dress encouraged.
